How we work

You are not buying charcoal. You are building a supply line.

Products that look identical can behave very differently once burned, packed, and sat in a container for weeks. So we start from what your end user needs — not from whatever stock happens to be available.

  • 01Product follows applicationShisha, BBQ, retail, agriculture and industry each demand different things. What excels at one can fail at another.
  • 02Specification agreed firstShape, size, ash, moisture, calorific value and packaging are set before production — and before price.
  • 03The sample becomes the referenceWe retain the sample you approve. If quality is ever disputed, there is a physical reference to compare.
  • 04The container is checkedQuantity, packaging, labelling, moisture and documents are verified before the seal goes on.

Quality proof

Proof before the goods leave

A buyer should not have to judge a product from photographs and a one-page quotation. Every stage leaves something you can check.

Documents

Prepared by product and destination

Requirements differ by destination and change over time. The authority is your customs broker at the destination port — we prepare, you confirm.

  • Base documents
    • Commercial invoice
    • Packing list
    • Bill of lading
    • Certificate of Origin where applicable
  • Product documents
    • Certificate of Analysis per batch
    • MSDS
    • Fumigation where the destination requires it
    • Additional documents by country

Some documents must be arranged during production, not after. Discovering a fumigation requirement once the container is sealed means opening it again.

In detail

What buyers ask before they start

Indonesia exported 203,010 tonnes of coconut shell charcoal in 2024 — up three years running, and the largest volume in the world. ABRA already supplies buyers in seven countries from three production sites in Bogor.

What decides your experience is not the country. It is how your supplier works.

Why is Indonesian charcoal rated higher?

Not our claim.

The success of shisha briquette production in Indonesia stems from the qualities of the charcoal produced, judged superior to charcoal from abroad.

— Coconut Downstreaming Roadmap 2025–2045, Ministry of National Development Planning

Indonesia is the world's best producer and exporter of coconut charcoal (briquettes), unmatched by any other country.

— Coconut Commodity Outlook 2025, Ministry of Agriculture

Two government documents, not a brochure.

How is the specification agreed before price?

We write the specification first: shape, size, ash, moisture, calorific value, packaging and marking. Price follows the specification, not the other way round.

A supplier who quotes before knowing the specification is guessing, and that guess reappears as a quality gap in your second container.

Is the sample approved before mass production?

Yes, and it is required. Samples ship with their test results, not bare. You burn them, compare them against other suppliers, and approve — only then does production run.

We retain the approved sample. If quality is ever disputed, there is a physical reference to compare against.

Which figures go into the agreement?

Everything agreed: the specification range with its tolerances, volume, shipping schedule, packaging, and what happens if a batch falls outside.

A verbal understanding is worth nothing once the container is at sea.

What proof of quality do you receive?

Our material is tested at the Ministry of Forestry laboratory (PUSPHB Bogor, KAN-accredited) against SNI 06-3730-1995.

Our production range: calorific value 7,319–7,500 kcal/kg, ash 2–3.56%, moisture 5.89%. Report 092/LHU/P2HB/07/2026 is one verified batch within that range.

That range spans two grades. Batches under 2.5% ash meet premium shisha grade; the rest perform strongly for commercial BBQ and grilling, where high heat and long burn are what buyers want. Tell us the grade you need up front — we allocate the matching batch and issue a COA for the batch you actually receive, not a brochure average. It is why buyers in seven countries reorder.

Which documents travel with the shipment?

Requirements differ by destination and change over time. The authority on what your shipment needs is your customs broker at the destination port, not this page.

The usual shape is consistent: commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, Certificate of Origin, a Certificate of Analysis for the batch shipped, and an MSDS. Some destinations add fumigation certificates or product registration.

What matters: several documents must be arranged during production, not after it. Discovering a fumigation requirement once the container is sealed means opening it again.

The HS code is 4402.20 for shell charcoal — 44022010 in Indonesia. We cover the detail separately in our HS code guide.

Is the container checked before it is sealed?

Yes. Moisture is re-checked, packaging inspected, quantity counted, and loading photographs sent to you.

Correct briquettes can still arrive ruined through wrong packing or a rushed load. An inspection before the seal costs far less than a claim after discharge.

What capacity can you rely on?

Briquettes 50+ tonnes per month; charcoal and biochar up to 90 tonnes per month, across three production sites in Bogor.

We state the capacity so you can judge for yourself whether your monthly requirement fits. A supplier who accepts orders beyond capacity fills the gap from elsewhere — and that is exactly where consistency disappears.

Need more than that? Tell us the number, and we will answer honestly what is possible and when.

Flexible

Almost all of it can be tailored

We rarely sell a fixed package. Most of the arrangements running today began as a conversation, then took their shape from it.

  • Formula & materialCoconut shell, hardwood, rice husk, bamboo, coffee grounds — or the blend you are aiming for.
  • Shape & sizeCube, hexagonal, pillow, finger, or a die made specifically for you.
  • Packaging & brandFrom inner box to export-ready master carton, carrying your brand.
  • Partnership modelFranchise, reseller, raw-material supply, contract manufacturing — all of it is discussable.

If what you need is not on this page, that rarely means it cannot be done. Usually it means nobody has asked yet.
