Demand for wood pellets from Indonesia is rising as industry shifts from coal to biomass. But "wood pellet" is not one product — it is a family whose behaviour is set by feedstock and process, and a pellet that suits one boiler can be a nuisance in another.

Diameter decides equipment fit

6 mm and 8 mm are the common sizes. This is not a preference — your feed system was designed around one of them. Pellets larger than the design jam the auger; smaller ones burn faster than the calculation assumed.

Mechanical durability decides how much arrives as pellet

A fragile pellet turns to fines during loading, shipping and transfer. You still pay for those fines, but they burn differently and foul the feed system. Ask for a durability figure, not just "our pellets are dense".

Moisture is a hidden cost

Water in the pellet has to be boiled off before the fuel gives you heat — energy you pay for and do not use. High moisture also invites mould in long storage, and mouldy pellets bridge in a silo.

Ash content sets your maintenance schedule

This is what separates pure wood pellets from blends. High ash means more frequent cleaning, slag build-up, and on some systems, unplanned shutdowns. If you are comparing two offers, compare ash before anything else.

Feedstock decides the rest

Sawdust, wood, bamboo and other biomass residues each produce a different character. • Monthly capacity against your requirement
